Hubei has established a modern industrial system with pillar industries of automobile, metallurgy, machinery, power generation, chemical industry, textiles, and building materials. The industrial restructuring of Hubei has been promoted vigorously and the industrial clusters have also expanded in 2007.The sales revenue of automobile industry, chemical industry and steel industry has already been over 100 billion RMB yuan and accounted for 41% of the industry as a whole, meanwhile there are 90 industrial clusters with 1 billion RMB yuan sales revenue. The number of small and medium enterprises in Hubei has reached more than 230,000 which increased by 110,000 over 2002, with the added-value of 474 billion RMB yuan, up by 76.9% over 2002. in the past five years, the scaled industrial enterprises have increased by 2,876 (1,513 in 2007). The added-value of scaled industrial enterprises in Hubei has reached 282.3 billion RMB yuan which has increased by 2.4 times over 2002; the annual growth rate of tertiary industry’s added-value was 12.2% and the total revenue of tourism was 64.09 billion RMB yuan including US$ 413 million of foreign exchange earnings. |
