HUBEI IN BRIEF
Hubei is the largest comprehensive hub of transportation and communication in central China. The railways of Beijing-Kowloon, Beijing-Guangzhou, Jiaozuo-Zhicheng and Zhicheng-Liuzhou cross Hubei from north to south; the railways of Wuhan-Danjiangkou and Xiangfan-Chongqing go through Hubei from east to west. The expressways of Beijing-Zhuhai, Shanghai-Chengdu, Huangshi-Huangmei and Wuhan-Shiyan form a net in Hubei. The total mileage of expressways and highways of Hubei reaches 100,000 kilometers, including 2300 kilometers of expressway. There are 7 airports in Hubei. Wuhan Tianhe International Airport is the largest one in central China and the international airlines to Japan, Korea and etc. have been opened. There are 163 river ports in Hubei province and the throughput of these ports reaches 10.9 million tons. The ports of Wuhan, Huangshi, Shashi and Yichang have been opened to the outside; sea crafts could directly reach Japan, Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong and Macao from these ports. The coaxial-cable from Beijing to Guangzhou and the optical cable from Nanjing to Chongqing are crossing in Wuhan, forming a national communication network.
