Hubei’s total volume of export and import in 2007 reached US$ 14.86 billion, increased by 2.76 times over the year of 2002, of which export reached US$ 8.17 billion, with an increase of 2.89 times.

Hubei province adheres to the policy of enhancing reforms and promoting development through opening up to the outside world. The use of foreign capital amounted to US$13.56 billion in the past five years, which accounted more than half of total amount of used foreign capital since the reform and opening-up. 80 out of the largest 500 international companies in the world have invested in Hubei and 5 foreign commercial institutions have established branches or offices in Hubei.
