In 2007, 21,693 person-times of 4,872 delegations went aboard on official visits, of which 72% with the purpose of economic, trade, technology exchanges. 30 delegations were led by the provincial leaders. Hubei Provincial Foreign Affairs Office and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office received 4,221 person-times of around 190 delegations including foreign guests, journalists, and overseas Chinese and people from Hong Kong and Macao. About 34 delegations of foreign guests higher than the level of deputy minister, 20 person-times of ambassadors and affairs-in-charges to China from 16 countries visited Hubei.

Hubei had newly established international sister relations with 2 provinces and 2 cities in 2007, with the total number reaching 61. The international people-to-people exchanges have also increased a lot. 583 person-times of 30 delegations from foreign friendly organizations were invited to visit Hubei by Hubei Association of Friendship with Foreign Countries.
