Overview

Westchester is a suburban county located in the north of the New York metropolitan area. The county enjoys a strong economic foundation and has fully-fledged industries.  Many a Fortune Global 500 companies and multinationals make Westchester County their home. Westchester has an advanced education system. 30 schools in the county have been rated as national excellent schools by the U.S. Department of Education. There are 23 higher education institutions including colleges, universities, and nursing schools in the county.

Relations withJingzhou

With the support of Mrs. You Rongwanping, President of Sino-American Economic, Trade and Culture Exchange Center, Jingzhou and Westchester started its exchanges in 1995. From 1996 to 1997, there were frequent exchanges of high-level visits. On June 12, 1998, the two cities formally established the sister city relations.

The bilateral friendly exchanges are highlighted by city construction. The delegations of urban and landscape construction from Jingzhou came to the US for training. Landscape construction teams from Westchester were invited to visit Jingzhou. During their visit, the teams shared their valuable experience with Jingzhou on city construction and landscape planning. In 1998, Jingzhou donated money to build a Chinese-style arbor and supporting facilities in Westchester. Westchester also donated tens of thousands of yuan worth of toys and entertainment facilities to Jingzhou Children Welfare Office and Zhongshan Park. Meanwhile, Jingzhou Shashi University has established a partnership with Westchester Community College.
