Overview

Charleston, located in South Australia, has an area of 54,000 square kilometers and a population of 96,000. Most of Adelaide’s working force and industrial area are in Charleston. The city has two regional shopping centers, a hospital, and a number of entertainment facilities.

Relations with Yichang

The friendly exchange between Yichang and Charleston began in 1994. The two formally concluded a sister relationship in 2001 and have achieved remarkable results in business cooperation.

In February 1994, a company of Charleston established a joint entertainment company with Gezhouba Group. In October 1997, China National Real Estate Development Group Corporation Yichang Branch, Yichang International Economic and Technical Cooperation Company and Yichang Stone City Industrial Corporation joined forces with Charleston to establish Australia Three Gorges Pty Limited. In May 2002, an ecotourism delegation from Yichang visited South Australia. In 2022, Yiling Secondary School and Hayden High School established a sister school relationship, followed by frequent and fruitful interactions between teachers and students.
