Overview

Takeo Province is located in the southwest of the Kingdom of Cambodia and its capital is Doun Kaev. The province consists of one municipality and nine districts, with a population of about 900,000 and an area of around 3,563 square kilometers. Takeo Province is the oldest among all 24 provinces in the country. With rich cultural, historical, and natural legacy, it is known as the cradle of Khmer civilization.

Relations with Xiangyang

In July 2015, a Xiangyang business delegation visited Cambodia. The two sides reached consensus on cooperation in various fields and signed a letter of intent to establish sister city relations.

In August 2015, then Deputy Prime Minister and Cabinet Minister Sok An and his wife led a delegation to Xiangyang. They visited several places, including Dongfeng Light Vehicle, Dongfeng Jingguan Agricultural Machinery, Xiangyang Yuqing Transmission Technology, Xiangyang Modern Agriculture Comprehensive Demonstration Zone, Migong Temple, and Ancient Longzhong Scenic Area.

In August 2016, Governor of Takeo Province led a delegation to Xiangyang. The two sides signed an agreement on the establishment of a sister city/province relation, marking the first friendship city of Xiangyang on the Maritime Silk Road. The two sides will expand cooperation to bring more benefits to the peoples.

In January 2017, a Xiangyang business delegation visited Takeo to promote key agricultural enterprises. The two sides reached a number of new investment cooperation intentions.

In January 2017, Governor of Takeo sent New Year’s wishes to Xiangyang through video at the Spring Festival Gala for Chinese farmers.
