Overview

Ilocos Sur is a province in the Philippines located in the Ilocos Region in Luzon. Located on the mouth of the Mestizo River is the capital of Vigan. Ilocos Sur is bordered by Ilocos Norte and Abra to the north, Mountain Province to the east, La Union and Benguet to the south and the South China Sea to the west. The province covers an area of 2,596 square kilometers, and has a population of 706,000 (as of 2020), accounting for 0.65% of the country’ total population.

Relations with Hubei

From October 23 to 28, 2017, at the invitation of Hubei, Governor Ryan Singson and his delegation, accompanied by Wang Jianqun, Consul & Head of Post of Consulate of China in Laoag, visited Hubei. On October 27, Governor Wang Xiaodong met with Governor Ryan Singson in Wuhan. The two sides talked about future exchanges and cooperation and signed a letter of intent for friendly exchanges and cooperation. During his stay in Hubei, Governor Ryan Singson and his delegation visited companies such as Dongfeng Shenyu Vehicle, Dongfeng Chaolong Bus, Dongfeng Special Vehicle, and Dongfeng Jingguan Agricultural Machinery in Shiyan, and Xiangyang Elegant New Energy Automobile and Dongfeng Automobile in Xiangyang.

On December 3, 2019, Hubei and Ilocos Sur formally became sister provinces.
