Vice Governor Zhao Haishan led a government delegation to Macao Special Administrative Region from September 26 to 28 in a bid to bolster practical cooperation between the two sides.

Zhao proposed setting up a Hubei-Macao cooperation mechanism, which was met with applause by Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng. Ho lauded the growth potentials of Hubei as a vital hub in central China and eyed collaboration in finance, education, traditional Chinese medicine, culture, and tourism.

On the afternoon of September 27, the 2022 Hubei-Macao Cross-Border Financing Conference was held under the theme of Two-Way Empowerment for Win-Win Cooperation. The conference brought together 120 plus participants representing the financial and business community and Portuguese-speaking countries in Macao.

During the trip, Zhao also talked with the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao, Monetary Authority of Macao, Macau International Airport Company, and Macao Chamber of Commerce.
