Secretary Wang Zhonglin meets CPI(M) General Secretary M.A. Baby

On September 27, Wang Zhonglin, Secretary of the CPC Hubei Provincial Committee, met with M.A. Baby, General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)), in Wuhan. The meeting, attended by Sun Haiyan, Vice Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, focused on deepening practical cooperation and promoting neighborly friendship.

Wang Zhonglin extended a warm welcome to General Secretary Baby and his delegation on behalf of the CPC Hubei Provincial Committee and the Hubei Provincial People’s Government. He noted that during the SCO Summit in August, President Xi Jinping met with Prime Minister Modi, expressing the hope that the two nations would be “neighbors and friends who support each other’s success” to achieve the “Dragon-Elephant Tango,” which has charted the course for China-India relations.

Wang emphasized that the CPIM is a major national party in India and a vital force for bilateral friendship. He highlighted Hubei’s status as a hub for economy, science, and agriculture, offering vast potential for cooperation due to its strengths in talent and industry. Using this visit as a new starting point, Hubei aims to implement the consensus reached by both national leaders to deepen collaboration in party building, technological innovation, modern agriculture, and tourism.

General Secretary Baby expressed his gratitude for the warm hospitality and spoke highly of Hubei’s socio-economic achievements. He particularly praised the CPC’s strong leadership in guiding Hubei and Wuhan through the pandemic and subsequent recovery. Recognizing Hubei’s immense strength in science, education, and industry, Baby stated that the CPI(M) fully understands the importance of expanding bilateral engagement. He pledged to use this visit to further close-knit ties in trade, technology, and governance to bring greater benefits to the people of both regions and contribute to the steady growth of India-China relations.
